I was quite disheartened this fall when we made the hard decision to close down the Mundy’s Bay Folk Society after 17 years. I had only been artistic director for 2 years, and had been brought on after the original committee had decided to shut the doors, but I still felt it was a great loss to the community. It is very encouraging that just 6 months later, live folk and blues music is returning to Midland in a big way. Paul Northcott, one of the early Mundy’s Bay volunteers has organized the Twisted Pines Music and Arts Festival in Midland and Penetanguishene on the Weekend of May 18-21. Events will be held at the Kings Wharf Theatre, local bars and restaurants and the North Simcoe Recreation Centre. Confirmed acts include Downchild Blues Band, Ken Whiteley, Fathead, Richard Knechtel, and Fred Eaglesmith. For more information or to purchase tickets, surf on over to http://www.twistedpines.com/ .

See you there.
